Chasselas

Chasselas clusters are fairly large, cylindrical to conical, and often loose, allowing the berries to breathe. The berries themselves are large and round, with thin, translucent skins. Depending on the variety, their colour ranges from golden yellow to a pinkish purple. The flesh is juicy, soft, and sweet, which is why Chasselas is also valued as a table grape.

In the Centre-Loire, Chasselas produces fine, light wines with delicate aromas of yellow-fleshed fruits (peach, apricot), white flowers, hawthorn, mint, hazelnut, and honey.
